GIS4043 - Final Module - Bobwhite Manatee Project
For the final project, it was tasked to analyze the Bobwhite Manatee project. In 2006, The Bobwhite-Manatee project was created to find a practical and socially acceptable route for a transmission line crossing between Manatee and Sarasota county. The project sought out to analyze specific limiting factors considered in the location selection process and impact of the surrounding area. These factors were then considered in finding the best possible route. The factors that were analyzed in the project was the conversational, residential, and educational area around and within the transmission lines path. With this, it was also asked to determine the length so that the cost of the transmission line could be calculated. The original project used GIS to determine all of these factors but was rarely mentioned. Analyzing them now allows for readers to understand the uses and capabilities of GIS.
